Shingles is a painful rash caused by the reactivation of the chickenpox virus.

- Two-dose vaccination course
- Second dose 2–6 months after the first

Can I receive the vaccine if I’ve had shingles before?
✅ Yes. Vaccination can still reduce the risk of future episodes.
Can I receive the vaccine if I’ve had chickenpox?
✅ Yes. Most adults who have had chickenpox are suitable for vaccination because shingles results from reactivation of the same virus.
Before your vaccination
✅ No fasting required
✅ Wear loose-fitting clothing
✅ Continue taking your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.
Government subsidies
The shingles vaccine is included in Singapore’s National Adult Immunisation Schedule (NAIS).
Eligible Singaporeans (those above 60 years) may receive subsidies at our clinic, where applicable. MediSave may also be used for eligible vaccinations.

Typical shingles symptoms include:
✅ Pain, tingling or burning before the rash appears
✅ A blistering rash affecting one side of the body
✅ Rash commonly affecting the chest, abdomen or face
Seek medical attention early, as antiviral medication is most effective when started within 72 hours of the rash appearing.
