Acne & Pimples Treatment in Khatib, Yishun

Acne is one of the most common skin conditions, affecting teenagers and adults alike.

While mild acne may improve with appropriate skincare, more persistent or severe acne often requires prescription medication to prevent permanent scarring.

Effective Medical Treatment for
Acne

Whether you’re a teenager struggling with breakouts or an adult experiencing persistent acne, early treatment can reduce inflammation, prevent scarring and improve skin health.

At GreenLink Medical Clinic, we provide evidence-based medical treatment tailored to the severity of your acne.

Acne is a condition affecting the hair follicles and the oil (sebaceous) glands of the skin. It is one of the most common skin conditions and is often referred to simply as pimples.

The sebaceous glands normally produce sebum, an oily substance that keeps the skin healthy. When excess sebum combines with dead skin cells, the pores become blocked.

This creates the perfect environment for bacteria that naturally live on the skin—particularly Cutibacterium acnes (previously known as Propionibacterium acnes)—to multiply.

The blocked pore becomes inflamed, leading to the redness, swelling and pus that we recognise as acne.

Acne develops when the tiny openings of the skin (hair follicles) become blocked by excess oil and dead skin cells.

Bacteria naturally present on the skin (Cutibacterium acnes) can then multiply inside the blocked pore, causing inflammation.

This leads to the familiar red pimples, whiteheads and painful cysts seen in acne.

Frequently Asked Questions

😣 Should I squeeze pimples?
No.
Squeezing acne can worsen inflammation and increase the risk of scarring.

💉 Will I need Oral isotretinoin?
Not everyone.
Isotretinoin is usually reserved for severe or persistent acne and requires careful medical supervision and blood tests.

🙂 Can acne scars be prevented?
Early treatment significantly reduces the risk of permanent scarring.

Treatment Monitoring

In general, we review our Acne patient every 2 to 4 weeks for response to treatment. We hope to complete treatment by the 3rd or 4th month.

As such, Acne patients will need:
✔️ Regular review of treatment response
✔️ Adjustment of medications when necessary
✔️ Blood test monitoring for patients taking oral isotretinoin

Don’t Let Acne Leave Permanent Scars
